1986, Austrália - a banda Midnight Oil passou vários meses em turnê no "outback" com os grupos indígenas Warumpi Band e Gondwanaland, tocando para comunidades aborígenes remotas e tomando consciência da seriedade dos problemas de saúde e padrão de vida das tribos. Isso deu origem ao álbum Diesel and Dust, de grande sucesso, e que tocou justamente na questão da necessidade de reconhecimento pela Austrália branca das injustiças no passado envolvendo os aborígenes, e a necessidade de reconciliação.

Nesta turnê, há o registro do Midnight com a Warumpi Band tocando a música Blackfella / Whitefella, composta pela última. É um hino do rock aborígene, que passa justamente a mensagem de reconciliação. Segue a música, a letra, e alguns comentários em seguida:

A mensagem é simples, muito poderosa, e fala por si só. Quando o barco está afundando, não importa cor, nome, religião ou raça, apenas que você seja um verdadeiro "fella" (camarada). As perguntas no refrão incitam a ação e reflexão: "É você quem estará sempre com a mão estendida para ajudar?". E mais que a simples tolerância, introduz o conceito de "family plan": tratar todos em escala global como se fossem nossos próprios irmãos e irmãs. E como se não bastasse, a música é ótima!
